Headlines on Python scripting for SEO, Javascript rendering, and data analysis in search engine land are way more common now than just a few short years ago. Free scripts all over the place. And so are tweets and posts about how you don’t need to know programming in order to “do SEO”.

But why wouldn’t you? Javascript is baked into the web, has been for decades, and the hype ain’t dying down. Python, with all of its power for working with data and web scraping at scale, is a language decades old that’s now among the top languages in use.

Maybe you’ve been doing things a certain way for years and just don’t want to change it up. Okay. Posts all over the net for and against the ‘programming not necessary for SEO’; the material is there if it’s a belief you want to support or defend into the future.

But is this really the game you want to play in long-term if all you want to do is what’s necessary?
