I’m Jesse Andrew Kohl, and I’m the Founder & Principal of Kohlio Digital. This is where I do freelancing, not an agency.

I started in journalism as a newspaper reporter and magazine writer before moving into public relations and digital marketing. That’s too long ago now for me to name any dates, but they’re out there.

The short story: I grew up obsessed with words, soon learned you can put data to the words an audience uses and grow that audience helpfully, and then got into languages. Not non-English languages, but Python, JavaScript, command line stuff. Now AI can handle the small stuff, and I like telling it what to do, or what it’s getting wrong. Strange world ;)

So…

I’ve published articles, run PR campaigns, managed digital marketing and automations, fuelled a sales pipeline, solved some pretty big analytics problems, etc. Some of it I’m proud of and embarrassed about at the same time, and I suppose that keeps me human even when I’m telling AI what to do. I’m grateful to have worked on some of the largest brands in Canada, and to have enjoyed the freedom of small teams and startup environments.
